Heather Mead

I make coiled hand-built sawdust fired ceramics. A range of one off pieces that are smoked and burnished with coloured slips. The shape of my pots originate from prehistoric pottery, and the sawdust pit firing from pueblo Indians and Nigerian Pottery. I have lived in Cornwall all my life so Cornwall has greatly influenced my work producing i think lovely tactile pieces which to me reflect the moody sky’s of Cornwall and the beautiful seas.
